If you’re thinking about getting a new truck, there’s none better than the Blue Oval. The Ford F-Series has been America’s bestselling truck for the past 47 years (and counting), and the legendary F-150 is a big part of that winning formula. The new F-150 is far and away the best truck in its class, outmuscling and outsmarting competitors like the Ram 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, and Nissan Titan.
The Ford F-150 doesn’t just crush the Ram 1500 when it comes to capability — it beats every other half-ton pickup around. When equipped with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost® twin-turbo V6, the F-150 offers up to 13,500 pounds of towing capacity.[1] That’s nearly a full ton more than what the Ram 1500 can tow. The difference is a bit closer when it comes to payload, but the F-150 is once again on top with up to 2,445 pounds of maximum payload capacity.[2] Simply enough, if you want a truck that can do the work, you want a Ford F-150.
If you want an off-road performance truck for those well-deserved weekend getaways, Ford is the best game in town. Not only does Ford offer the F-150 Raptor, a high-powered beast with FOX® Racing Dual-Live Valve Shocks and 450 horsepower, but it offers a sizable upgrade with the incredible Raptor R. Powered by the 5.2-liter supercharged V8 that made the Shelby GT500 a Mustang of historic proportions, the Raptor R delivers an insane 720 horsepower. Combine that with massive 37-inch tires and an exclusive Baja mode, and it’s not hard to imagine why Ram might have backed down.
Despite having so many advantages over the Ram 1500, the Ford F-150 starts at a significantly lower MSRP. But if you want a luxury pickup, the difference runs even deeper. The new Ford F-150 Platinum starts under $74,000 MSRP, which is less than the Ram 1500 Limited, Limited Longhorn, and Tungsten. In fact, the difference between the latter and the Platinum is around $13,000. That means you can add the Platinum Plus package — which adds a 14-speaker B&O® Unleashed sound system, twin-panel moonroof, quilted leather seats, and Pro Power Onboard — and still pay less than you would for the Ram 1500 Tungsten.
With the available Pro Power Onboard, the Ford F-150 gives you the power to do more — literally. This built-in generator can export up to 7.2 kilowatts of electrical power, letting you use appliances, power tools, televisions, and much more. The GMC Sierra 1500 doesn’t have a comparable option, so you’ll be out of luck when it’s tailgating season.
The new Ford F-150 offers more engine options than the GMC Sierra 1500, and that includes the 3.5-liter PowerBoost™ Full Hybrid V6. This engine is one of the most impressive you can get in the F-150, delivering balanced fuel economy and putting down 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque. And it’s no slouch when it comes to getting things done, offering up to 11,200 pounds of max towing power. With strength like that, it’s no wonder that the F-150 is America’s No. 1 full-size, full-hybrid truck.
The GMC Sierra Denali is a truck known for being luxurious, but it still lags behind the F-150 in a few key facets. For one, the F-150 makes the interior more functional if you work on the go with the available Interior Work Surface. Turning the center console into a miniature desk, you can use this upgrade to send emails on your laptop — or stream a movie on your lunch break. Speaking of break time, the F-150 is available with Max Recline Seats that fold almost completely flat so you can catch up on some shuteye.
It’s safe to say that the Nissan Titan isn’t many folks’ first choice when it comes to trucks. This begs the question of why Nissan charges almost $10,000 more for the base Titan than Ford charges for the F-150. For about the same price as the most basic Titan, you can upgrade to the F-150 XLT, which adds awesome features you can’t get with the Titan like Pro Trailer Hitch Assist™ and Pro Trailer Backup Assist™.
Nissan only offers one engine for the Titan: a 400-horsepower V8. Not only does the Ford F-150 come with more engine options, but many of those options are significantly more powerful. The PowerBoost™ Hybrid puts down 430 ponies and 570 lb-ft of torque, easily topping Nissan’s V8 while delivering better fuel economy and superior max towing. You can also opt for the 3.5-liter EcoBoost® or 5.0-liter V8, both of which offer the same max horsepower as the Titan, or get even more power with the Raptor and Raptor R.
The Ford F-150 is available with BlueCruise, an innovative hands-free driving feature that works on 97% of all controlled-access highways across the United States and Canada. So whenever you enter a Hands-Free Blue Zone, you can engage the system, take your hands off the wheel, and enjoy the ride. Nissan doesn’t offer anything like this on the Titan.
When it comes right down to it, the Ford F-150 is practically in a class all its own. Want to experience firsthand what the F-150 does that the competition can’t? Check out our in-stock selection of F-150 pickup trucks and visit Packey Webb Ford in Downer Grove, Illinois, for a test drive.
